Larp Events

Larps are live action role playing events, and they vary in size and style. Small groups can fit into a single room or a few small rooms. These smaller events are sometimes called parlor larps. Larger events, including mega events, also happen regularly. These include overnight larps, blockbuster larps, and camping larps. Not all larps have boffers (those foam swords and other gear), but some do.

This page contains larp events of all sorts. I'm including some larp conventions, too. These events sometimes include many, many different games. Prices, locations, and details are included for each.

If you want to submit a local larp event, you can do that below. This page is manually maintained and updated, so I may be slow to respond.

I personally review each submission, but that doesn't mean I've attended or plan to attend these events. Appearance on this page doesn't mean there's any affiliation between the event, the hosting organization, or any of the players and Autumnal Games.

What larp events cost

Larp events have different price points. Many friends run free larp events, especially parlor larps, because the costs for setup are much lower than more theatrical larger larps. Larps at stores, even parlor larps, have nominal fees, sometimes as low as $15-$20 to attend, while weekend larps can cost $100-$1,000 depending on production value, character creation, and the presence of NPCs. If you're looking to keep costs low as a player, consider asking to volunteer as a non-player character. Many larp organizers offer discounts or free attendance for volunteer hours.

How to find a larp near you

The easiest way to find a larp near you is to get involved with your local roleplaying community. If you have a game shop nearby, one that sells tabletop RPGs, that tends to have significant overlap with the live-action roleplaying community. They may be able to direct you to Discord groups, Facebook groups, or other communities that are active in your area. If you're around Illinois, you can also check here for upcoming events.

Submit an event

To submit an event, I need to know the name of the larp and a bunch of other details. The survey will ask for the location, cost, expected number of players, and who is organizing it. Please provide all the details you can. I'll review and add submissions as they come in. Note that it may take some time, as I'm adding these manually.
