Here are the larp events around Chicago this week.
This Wednesday Wednesday, November 4, 7pm
A discord-based larp where the server is a haunted house. Some players explore the house. Others are the ghosts who haunt it. This larp was written by Adam Vass and Will Jobst.
The game will be GMed by Katy Crow.
This Friday Friday, November 6, 7pm
A murder mystery right here in Edgewater. I've visited Colvin House before. It's gorgeous.
Venue: Free parking for the first 15 cars at Swift Elementary two blocks west; ask at the Thorndale back door for a permit. The Malibu garage across Sheridan validates for $2 off.
This Sunday Sunday, November 8, 6pm
A ship-themed larp where you play as the ghost of a shipwreck. This one's written by Haute Coco Productions.
Venue: Venue has stairs to the downstairs area, where many events happen.
Note from Jim: Goblin Market's downstairs is one of the best places to play indie games (including larps) in the city.
Doors at 5 pm, ages 18+. Proceeds from this larp go to help Goblin Market cover much-needed repairs from recent flooding at their store. While this event is already sold out, it may have a waitlist available.
Nothing this week matches those filters.
Here are more upcoming larp events.

A cozy mystery game set in a small inn during a harvest party. Players investigate a theft. Expect accusations, deception, and humor.
Note from Jim: I'll be at this event. Looking forward to seeing how everyone plays the game!
Note from Jim: Secret World Books hosted the first playtest of The Elderflower Inn.
The Elderflower Inn returns to Secret World Books this November. Play as a character. Solve a mystery. Support your local bookstore. Doors at 6:30.

This horror larp is set in the time of silver screen films, at a party in Hollywood. Expect Lovecraftian elements. New larpers are welcome!

Note from Jim: Goblin Market is my favorite store in Chicago.
In 32 days Friday, December 4, 6pm, 8pm and 10pm
Dress in cocktail attire and experience this classic Christmas story in a unique way. Note that this is more immersive theater than larp, but it looked interesting enough to include for larpers.
Ages 21+

Under the Table is a mafia-themed larp with multiple plotlines. Intrigue, romance, and power grabs are all potentially part of the game.
Venue: Venue has stairs to the downstairs area, where many events happen.
Note from Jim: There's free street parking near Goblin Market, but I usually take the CTA to get there.
This is such a popular event. And the location is well established as one of the best places for parlor larps in Chicago.

There's a larp at the Chicago Steampunk Expo. Lots of information about how to play, etc, on their site.

In 9 months Friday, August 6, 2027 – Sunday, August 8, 2027 · Indianapolis, 165 miles from Chicago
The biggest midwest game convention, including tabletop games and many, many larp events.
Venue: This is a huge event, and people stay at hotels around the city for it, including way out by the airport.
Note from Jim: One of my fondest Gencon memories was playing footbag on the Lucas Oil Stadium turf, where the Colts play.

The biggest midwest game convention, including tabletop games and many, many larp events.
Venue: This is a huge event, and people stay at hotels around the city for it, including way out by the airport.
Note from Jim: There are hotels connected to the main Gencon area, and those usually sell out fast.
Nothing here matches those filters.
Here's a map of the upcoming events. In most cases, this is the venue where the larp is located. It doesn't show specific home addresses for home larps. In those cases, the cities or a nearby park is pinned. Always check the event listing before you make plans.
The map needs JavaScript. Every venue and address is listed above without it.
I find it helpful to see all the past larp events, so I'm including them here. Note that some of these events might have been scheduled and cancelled. I don't always have information about those events but, when I do, I include notes that show they were cancelled.
To submit an event, I need to know the name of the larp and a bunch of other details. The survey will ask for the location, cost, expected number of players, and who is organizing it. Please provide all the details you can. I'll review and add submissions as they come in. Note that it may take some time, as I'm adding these manually.
The events listed here aren't associated with Autumnal Games. It's a collection of larp events around Illinois, specifically if they're drivable from Chicago. If you find a listing here, confirm with the game organizers before you make plans. Thanks for visiting!
